As mounting economic, social, and environmental challenges face communities everywhere, community leaders are increasingly embracing the concept of sustainability as an integrated way to achieve healthy and vibrant communities, now and for future generations. Through Audubon International's Community Engagement, Planning, & Action Initiative, we are helping community leaders and stakeholders to embrace environmental stewardship and sustainability as a central element of planning, policies, and practices.  We do this in three ways:

1. Promoting Best Practices - through our own Sustainable Communities Program and by highlighting and partnering with other programs, service-providers, and available tools.
   
2. Driving Change - through the identification and communication of success stories, cases, models, and other lessons.
   
3. Funding New Solutions - through such things as innovative public policy tools, market-based approaches, and funding sources.
